 Arie Arnon – Israel

Arie Arnon is Professor of Research, School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), University of London; on sabbatical from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. Arie Arnon is the Spring 2008 Diller Visiting Israeli Professor, UC Berkeley and will teach under-graduate and graduate classes through the Economics department. He is at IRLE from September 2006- 2008. Prof. Arnon's research interest is Palestinian economy and history of economy.


 Theresa Beltramo – Italy

Theresa Beltramo is a Visiting Student Researcher from the School of Advanced Studies, Venice International University and Department of Economics, Ca Foscari University. Ms. Beltramo is working with Professor David Levine, Eugene E. and Catherine M. Trefethen Chair in Business Administration, Haas School of Business, on research on labor markets in poor nations. Theresa is here from August, 2007 through September, 2008.


 Sophia Dini – Switzerland

Sophia Dini is a Visiting Scholar from the Department of Economics, University of Geneva, Switzerland. Her current research focuses on discrimination, occupational segregation and gender wage gap. Sophia is at IRLE from January to December, 2008 and is mentored by David Levine, Professor, Eugene E. and Catherine M. Trefethen Chair in Business Administration.


 Tomoko Furugori – Japan

Tomoko Furugori is a Professor of Economics, Chuo University, Tokyo, Japan. She will be at IRLE March, 2007 – March, 2008. Her current interest is in the economic conditions, labor market analysis, and social welfare problems for non-standard workers and/or poorly-paid workers. Tomoko is mentored by Arin Dube, Research Economist, Center on Wage and Employment Dynamics, IRLE.


 Ethan Kaplan – Sweden

Ethan Kaplan, Assistant Professor at Stockholm University, has returned to UC Berkeley and will be Visiting Assistant Professor at IRLE. He has already published numerous scholarly articles, and has also served as a referee for the American Economic Review, Industrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, and many other publications. His research interests include political economy, labor economics and Institutional Economics.


 Dariusz Jemielniak – Poland

Dariusz Jemielniak is a Professor at Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management, Warsaw, Poland. He will be a Visiting Scholar at IRLE from February, 2008 through August, 2008.

His mentor is Neil Fligstein, Professor, Sociology and his research study is on workplace relations in high-tech environment.


 Fidelma Murphy – Ireland

Fidelma Murphy is a Visiting Research Scholar from the National University of Ireland, Galway and is a participant in the University of California Exchange Programme Her research is on ‘the changing employment relation in the U.S. automobile industry, especially as it has been affected by developments in Mexico’. Fidelma will be here from May, 2008 through August, 2008.


 Per Ola Oberg – Sweden

Per Ola Oberg is a Professor of political science at Uppsala University, Sweden. He is a Visiting Scholar at IRLE from January, 2008 – May, 2008 and is working with Chris Ansell, Political Science department, UC Berkeley.


 Brian O'Boyle – Ireland

Brian O'Boyle is a Visiting Research Scholar from the National University of Ireland Galway and is a participant in the University of California Exchange Programme. His research is in the area of philosophy of science and social structures of accumulation theory. Brian is here from January, 2008 through May, 2008 and is mentored by Michael Reich.


 Lucas Ronconi

Lucas Ronconi is a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Center for Labor Research and Education at IRLE. His focus is on policy-related research concerning healthcare reform in California and elsewhere. In addition, he participates on research in other areas related to the California workforce. Lucas is here from June, 2007 – May, 2008.


 Oyvind Wiborg – Sweden

Oyvind Wiborg is a Research Fellow at the education department, University of Oslo, Sweden. Oyvind is a Visiting Scholar at IRLE from July, 2007 through June, 2008. He will work with his mentor, Trond Petersen, Chair, Sociology, on "Challenges of the Nordic Welfare States: Social class background, ethnicity and marginalization."
